data-contrast=\"auto\">councillor<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Joe Carter said: \u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">With the support of patients we succeeded in saving St David\u2019s Medical Centre, but our community need a service not just a building.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">In a meeting today with the Community Health Council (CHC),\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pentwyn\u2019s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0other Liberal Democrat\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Councillors,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Emma\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sandrey<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and Dan Naughton, were told that discussions between the Board and the practice are ongoing.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">The CHC, which represent patients, have now agreed to take up some complaints with the practice and urge them to provide better communication about what patients can expect.\u00a0<\/span><span on March 5<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">th,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0residents raised concerns over\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the hours\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">St David\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">M<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">edical\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">C<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">entre<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0is open.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">St David\u2019s is a branch surgery to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pontprennau<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Medical Centre,\u00a0meaning it\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">has to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0be open for 20 hours a week to qualify as a branch.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The hours reflect the time clinical services are on offer, not the time the doors are open.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Yet residents remain frustrated at the number of hours the surgery is open and how hard it is to get an appointment, especially because St David&#8217;s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">became<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0a branch last Spring when\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pontprennau<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0was made the main surgery for the area.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Christina Strange-Wood<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, 40, who lives on\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Brynheulog<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">said: \u201cLike many in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pentwyn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, I was horrified when this surgery was threatened by closure, and then delighted when it was saved.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sadly, the service is still terrible<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and we\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">feel like<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0second class citizens.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Mrs<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Wood claims that it is incredibly hard to book appointments as the phone lines are manned from\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pontprennau<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and you\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">have to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0insist upon being seen in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pentwyn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI am a young, disabled woman who lives within walking distance (with some difficulty) of St David<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s surgery. I can&#8217;t drive and my husband works away a lot and bus journeys<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0when ill\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">are impossible for me.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cTo get an appointment, myself and my husband have to phone the surgery at least 100 times each at 8<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">am. Then I only get one if\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I am\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">lucky.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Fellow patient Paul Price, 50, who lives on\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Heddfan<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0North<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0has experienced similar problems.<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cSt David\u2019s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0was once very good but now you cannot see anyone, if you try to ring at 8<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">am<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0all the appointments for that day are gone,&#8221; he said.<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Mr<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Price said that he is forced to go to the new medical\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">centre<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pontprennau<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to be seen about his back and shoulder problems despite only living a two-minute walk from St David<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI can\u2019t continue to do that as I can\u2019t walk or get a bus \u2013 I have emailed them and have been told &#8216;hard luck&#8217;.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">It costs me \u00a34 to get to the other\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">centre<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and that is if the buses are running<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\nThe Pentwyn councillors said the residents&#8217;
