It depends on the school\u2019s area, and what sort of housing and streets are nearby.\u201d<br \/>\nA parent of children at Radyr Comprehensive, who wished to remain unnamed, said: \u201cI appreciate the challenges of getting children to school. Making the whole area slower and safer is the answer, more would then want to walk.<br \/>\n\u201cIn an ideal world, we need to reduce traffic on Heol Isaf. The road was just never meant for the current volume.\u201d<br \/>\nEnda Hayes, from Radyr, said: \u201cThis idea will not work in isolation but it needs to be part of an integrated package that enable alternatives to the car.<br \/>\n\u201cIn isolation this policy simply displaces the car problem rather than resolving it. Personal exposure is more complicated to resolve than a blanket ban around schools.\u201d<br \/>\nResidents expressed similar concerns in a petition launched in <a href=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2019\/03\/12\/petition-for-anti-idling-zones-outside-cardiff-schools\/\">Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn<\/a>\u00a0on the issue of idling, when drivers leave their engines running\u00a0while dropping their\u00a0children off.<br \/>\nRadyr Comprehensive is on Heol Isaf, the major link road in and out of Radyr, which makes a total ban on cars outside impractical.<br \/>\nHowever, Radyr Primary School, on nearby Park Road,\u00a0is exactly the sort of school Sustrans believe would suit the proposal.<br \/>\nXavier Brice, Sustrans\u2019 chief executive, said: \u201cWe need to radically change the way we travel.
