Partly we want to make sure we keep up the good\nwork, and not lose people while it\u2019s closed.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cMe and my\nwife, Chris, have been letting people who see the building works know it\u2019s only\ntemporary.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Regular\nevents include seasonal celebrations, social meetings and even a \u2018reminiscences\u2019\ngroup \u2013 where residents can chat about their memories of Whitchurch. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Mrs Lewis, an Awen fire marshal, said: \u201cHaving saved the library along with other community groups, we feel now our role is to help the library staff. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince money\nwill always be tight, it\u2019s impossible for them to do extra things. Image: Anthony Evans<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>The news of the library\u2019s transformation into a new council wellbeing hub ended fears that it may close. It is being funded by Welsh Government\u2019s Museum, Archives and Libraries Division and the Integrated Care Fund. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Mike Phillips, Conservative councillor for Whitchurch and Tongwynlais, said he is \u201cdelighted\u201d the work is being done. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cWe\nneed a hub in the area &#8211; the existing ones have not served Whitchurch and\nTonwgynlais residents that well, they\u2019re too far away. It\u2019s not easy for\neveryone to get to those places. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe use the\nlibrary as a family, and I support various groups &#8211; PACT, heritage groups, Awen.\nI want to encourage it &#8211; libraries are under pressure so it\u2019s great to see\ninvestment in the library. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis should give it a new lease of life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Mrs Lewis said: \u201cI regularly use the library, I love books. The thought of it going completely\u2026&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Mr Lewis\nadded: \u201cNone of us know what it\nwill be like for sure, but now they\u2019ve invested the money it\u2019s a good sign.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWell, the alternative is another Wetherspoons I suppose.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cGoing on tour is going to be a great opportunity to meet new people.
