This will remain open until the end of the day, after which the group will publish the results.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Chair of Radyr and Morganstown Community Council, councillor Huw Jones, said: \u201cThe community council continues to support the need to make the roads throughout Radyr and Morganstown as safe as possible, and to mitigate the impact of traffic on community life.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Talk of enforcing a 20mph limit across the whole village <a href=\"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2016\/11\/29\/near-miss-prompts-calls-20mph-limit-around-radyr-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">began in 2016<\/a>, when a car accident led to calls for a new limit on Heol Isaf, ensuring safety of children attending the nearby schools. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>There has since been much debate and <a href=\"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2019\/02\/15\/residents-take-speed-prevention-into-their-own-hands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">campaigning<\/a> among residents.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Love Our Villages, a&nbsp;group set up on Facebook and Twitter to bring together those in favour of the new limit, have been the driving force for change. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Members have cited safer parking and walking routes for school children as two reasons behind their support. Their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipetitions.com\/petition\/RandMRoadSafety?fbclid=IwAR0iNn125Nlt0FjIZWJCS-vFcmeVF3Y0fgNqUf2MN_KcQDm8iL82onXdaNw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">online petition<\/a> has gained over 600 signatures and 190 comments. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Just a little reminder why we are doing so much behind the scenes to make our village safe&#8230;.  <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SafeWalkToSchool?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#SafeWalkToSchool<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Radyr?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Radyr<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0N0AQ5T3FG\">pic.twitter.com\/0N0AQ5T3FG<\/a><\/p>&mdash; LoveOurVillages (@LoveOurVillages) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LoveOurVillages\/status\/1182595002624565248?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 11, 2019<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>However, not everyone is convinced. Some are concerned that the limit would not be adequately enforced and that dangerous car emissions in the village would increase due to slower moving vehicles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>One Morgantown resident, who asked not to be named, said: \u201cWhilst I fully agree with the 20mph restrictions around schools, old people&#8217;s homes, approaching pedestrian crossings and the like, I do not agree that a blanket 20mph is either necessary or required. How on earth will it be enforced when 30mph isn&#8217;t being enforced by our police force?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI believe that this blanket 20mph in this area demonstrates that our city council is against car users.
