James Corden (@JKCorden) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JKCorden\/status\/1133252827235717120?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 28, 2019<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>The drop\u00a0in tourism\u00a0continued\u00a0until the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/m000csm7\"> 2019 Christmas Special <\/a>was announced,  which was watched by 11.6 million people on December 25.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Glenda Kenyon, 66, owner of the &#8220;Gavin and Stacey house&#8221; on Trinity Street,\u00a0said she had around 2,500 tourists per year when the show ended, which she kept track of in her visitors&#8217; book.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>But when the Christmas special was\u00a0announced, she had 3,000 tourists in just one\u00a0month.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere has been\u00a0a\u00a0hell of\u00a0a\u00a0lot of people down this street,\u201d she said.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Louis Ross, 35, owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barrybados.com\/\">The Beach Hut<\/a> on Barry Island,\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cWe have never seen a Christmas so busy &#8211; We\u2019ve had tourists from all over the world, including New Zealand Russia.\u201d&nbsp; <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>With 32 people per coach tour&nbsp;and multiple trips on Fridays&nbsp;and Saturdays, Glenda\u2019s visitors&#8217; book will see&nbsp;a&nbsp;large increase in tourists.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Mr\u00a0Ross\u00a0said that since the show has been\u00a0added on streaming services like Netflix, there is a\u00a0whole new generation of fans who were\u00a0six\u00a0or\u00a0seven\u00a0when the show first came out.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Glenda Kenyon said:&nbsp;\u201cThe tourists are mostly young people these days. When it is quiet, it is because the kids have gone back to school.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Julie Kay, 19,\u00a0a\u00a0Barry resident, was seven when the show first\u00a0aired. She said her brother got her interested\u00a0and she has loved it ever since.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think tourism will ever decrease even if the show doesn&#8217;t return,&nbsp;as [Barry Island] is the heart of Gavin&nbsp;and Stacey,\u201d she said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Other residents agree:\u00a0\u201cBarry Island remains a place of interest and has for the last 10 years due to the show,\u201d said resident Paul Smith, 36.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf I tell people I live in Barry, I&nbsp;am reminded of the Gavin&nbsp;and Stacey
