Llanishen restaurant to stay open 24 hours a day.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In January, the council\u2019s Licensing Sub Committee opposed the move to let the restaurant on Ty Glas Avenue serve hot food late at night after residents and ward councillors voiced their concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The application for a <a href=\"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2019\/11\/19\/llanishen-residents-concern-after-mcdonalds-applies-for-24-hour-licence\/\">premise licence<\/a>,  would have allowed it to serve hot food between 11pm and 5am. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Members of the community said the fast food restaurant could attract noise, pollution, litter and anti-social behaviour to the area. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>The appeal Llanishen McDonald&#8217;s was refused a late night licence by the Licensing Sub Committee<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Ruth Morgan, from Llanishen, spoke to the sub-committee on behalf of 41 residents and will also speak as a witness at the appeal. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe road is quiet from about 8pm onwards every night so if McDonald\u2019s open late and they start advertising, what is likely to happen is that people are going to travel in,&#8221; said Dr Morgan.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cOf course, at that time of night they are likely to be intoxicated, and\nthere may be problems associated with that, such as disorder and anti-social behavior\n&#8211; and we have got vulnerable people living directly opposite McDonald\u2019s,\u201d she\nsaid. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Another resident said, in a letter to the committee: \u201cI am 77 years old and my apartment is immediately opposite the McDonald\u2019s restaurant site. I am very concerned about possible noise and light affecting me at night.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Back in September, Llanishen and Thornhill councillors failed in their attempts to stop McDonald\u2019s opening its 10<sup>th<\/sup> Cardiff restaurant in Llanishen. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>A few months earlier, plans for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/local-news\/plans-new-chip-shop-cardiff-16460669\">new chip shop<\/a> on 30 Fishguard Road were refused by the Planning Committee because its location was in a primarily residential area.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Both Cardiff Council and McDonald\u2019s have declined to comment at this time. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fast food giant wants Llanishen restaurant to stay open through night despite ruling MCDONALD\u2019s has lodged an appeal against Cardiff council after it was refused a licence allowing the Llanishen restaurant to stay open 24 hours a day.
