href=\"https:\/\/www.cariadcommunity.co.uk\/\">Cariad Community CIC<\/a> with a taster session from 10am-3pm yesterday to test out the food and will launch the full menu on March 9.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Ms Johnston, who previously ran <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pg\/cariadkitchen\/posts\/?ref=page_internal\">Cariad Kitchen<\/a> in Whitchurch, is a qualified nutritionist and will serve fresh food without additives, sugar or salt.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile we do need sodium, I think we all have a tendency to over-salt\nthings because we\u2019re so used to processed foods and flavours,\u201d said Ms Johnston.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re trying to show that the flavour of the ingredients in\nour food is tasty enough.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Food at Cariad, such as the cooked breakfasts and potato\nwedges, will be baked rather than fried to reduce the amount of oil used. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The caf\u00e9 is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/set-up-a-social-enterprise\">Community Interest Company<\/a> set up to benefit the community. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Cariad is run by volunteers, and offers hot meals such as Bolognese for \u00a34, jacket potatoes for \u00a32.50, and sandwiches for \u00a32.  <\/p>\n\n\n<p>It also offers a family meal deal, where you can feed four\nfor \u00a310, and you can take food home as well as eating in. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Ms Johnston said: \u201cWe\u2019re trying to keep prices really low\nfor the community, so that everyone can have access to good food.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" they receive from the community and from organisations like <a href=\"https:\/\/fareshare.org.uk\/\">FareShare<\/a>, which redistribute surplus food from supermarkets and restaurants. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn my previous business, I\u2019ve always known what my stock\nrotation will look like,\u201d said Ms Johnston. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a very different process because you don\u2019t know\nwhat you\u2019re going to get.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like Ready, Steady, Cook. We have to look at what\u2019s in\nfront of us and be imaginative.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve gone egg-crazy this week, as that\u2019s what was donated to us.
