They also face four of the top eight sides \u2013 who are also battling for the play-offs and promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Bluebirds will look to make their home form, having only lost twice at Cardiff City Stadium all season.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Last season Derby County finished sixth with 74 points \u2013 to reach that total the Bluebirds would need to win at least seven of their last 10. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>With the season reaching crunch time, let\u2019s run down the fixtures which will define the City\u2019s campaign.  <\/p>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Barnsley (A) \u2013 07.03.20 <\/h4>\n\n\n<p>The Bluebirds travel to Yorkshire on Saturday in what could be a must win game against relegation-threatened Barnsley.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Despite sitting second from bottom and five points from safety the Tykes are in decent form having won three of their last four.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Elsewhere on Saturday rivals Swansea host leaders West Brom,\nwhile fellow play-off chasers Bristol City face third place Fulham. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>The side one place above City, Millwall have a tough test\nthis weekend travelling to the City Ground to face fourth place Nottingham\nForest on Friday night.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The other two sides around Cardiff both have easier fixtures,\nwith Blackburn Rovers facing Derby County and Preston North End facing QPR. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>This gives the Bluebirds a perfect opportunity to close the gap on sixth place if they can get a win at Oakwell.  <\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;Ultimately we want to push for the Play-Offs this year.&quot; first game in charge against Charlton Athletic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bristol City (A) &#8211; 04.04.20<\/h4>\n\n\n<p>On Saturday April 4<sup>th<\/sup> there is more than just\nplay-off desires on the line \u2013 there\u2019s also bragging rights in the Severnside derby.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Cardiff will be hoping to avenge the 1-0 defeat to the Robins\nearlier in the season, which was also Neil Warnock\u2019s last game in charge of the\nBluebirds. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Anthon Pilkington scored a late winner the last time Cardiff\nwon at Ashton Gate \u2013 a 3-2 victory in January 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>This game marks the start of a tough run of fixtures against teams also competing for promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blackburn Rovers (H) \u2013 10.04.20<\/h4>\n\n\n<p>The games against\nfellow play-off chasing teams come thick and fast as Cardiff host Blackburn\nless than a week after the trip to Bristol.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Rovers are another\nside to have exceeded expectations this season, currently finding themselves in\neighth place \u2013 three points off sixth and two ahead of the Bluebirds in 11<sup>th<\/sup>.\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Tony Mowbray\u2019s side suffered a blow with injury to talisman Bradley Dack but still have firepower through the in form Adam Armstrong who has 11 goals and six assists this campaign. <\/p>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fulham (A) &#8211; 14.04.20 <\/h4>\n\n\n<p>The fixtures keep\ngetting tougher for City over the Easter period as they travel to Craven\nCottage on a Tuesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Fulham, who were\nrelegated from the Premier League with Cardiff last season, were many pundits\u2019\ntip for an immediate return but haven\u2019t quite fulfilled their pre-season\nexpectations.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>They currently sit third, five points off Leeds United in second and boast the league\u2019s top scorer in Aleksandar Mitrovic, meaning Cardiff will have to be at their very best to come away from west London with a result.  <\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udde3\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jnrhoilett?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@jnrhoilett<\/a>: &quot;Albert told me to get on the back stick today and I just had to get my head on it&#8230;<br><br>&quot;We have ten games left and every point is going to count.&quot;<br><br>\ud83d\udc49 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QpFCTH895R\">https:\/\/t.co\/QpFCTH895R<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/CityAsOne?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#CityAsOne<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/UMGfDiuGYv\">pic.twitter.com\/UMGfDiuGYv<\/a><\/p>&mdash; 18.04.20 <\/h4>\n\n\n<p>Four days after the trip to Fulham, Cardiff return to South Wales to host Derby County.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Rams lost in\nthe play-off final last season but haven\u2019t been able to build on last season\u2019s\nsuccess.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The introduction of Wayne Rooney in January has seen an upturn in form for the east Midlands\u2019 side, who have clawed themselves away from the danger of the drop and safely into mid-table. <\/p>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Middlesbrough (A) &#8211; 25.04.20<\/h4>\n\n\n<p>The penultimate game of the season sees Cardiff travel to Teesside for a clash against struggling Middlesbrough.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Boro have been a surprise package this season under new manager Jonathan Woodgate \u2013 but for all the wrong reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Woodgate\u2019s side are in a relegation fight and are currently in the bottom three, just one point from safety &#8211; a prime opportunity for a Bluebirds win as the campaign draws to a close. <\/p>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hull City (H) &#8211; 02.05.20 <\/h4>\n\n\n<p>The final game of\nthe season sees all Championship games kick off at 12.30 on Saturday May 2.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The Bluebirds will\nbe hoping they have done enough in the previous nine games to still be within a\nshot of the top six by the time the Tigers come to town.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Grant McCann\u2019s side have underwhelmed this season and will be lacking in firepower due to the loss of top scorer Jarrod Bowen, who moved to West Ham in January. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Also on the final day Bristol host Preston, Blackburn travel to Luton Town while Swansea face a trip to Reading. <\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cardiffian takes a look at Cardiff City\u2019s remaining fixtures in the chase for the play-offs FOLLOWING an eventful 2-2 draw with Brentford last weekend Cardiff now sit five points off the play-offs with just 10 games to go.
