Passion counts for a lot,\u201d said Tomos Morris, 21, from Swansea.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n<p>I\nheard several anecdotes involving fans spotting Welsh rugby\nstars in random, everyday\nplaces.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Welsh\nfan Huw Perry, 24, from Milton Keynes, told me he met James Hook in Sainsbury\u2019s\nand bumped into Alun Wyn Jones at a petrol station.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never met any English players outside of their\nrespective grounds,\u201d he added.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Huw,\nlike me, has an English father and Welsh mother.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019d think as a kid I\u2019d be more drawn to\nsupport England given how much better they were, but I\ntook the Welsh side because I really felt the passion when going to see them\nplay,\u201d he said.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Big brother, little brother<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt the\nbasis of the rivalry is the feeling that we\u2019ve always been treated\nas the younger brother. That we\u2019ve always been told what to do by England,\u201d\nsaid Tomos\nMorris.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Such\nperspectives stem back to the 18<sup>th<\/sup>\nand 19<sup>th<\/sup>\ncenturies when the Welsh\nlanguage was restricted in education systems by the \u2018Welsh Not\u2019.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Children\nwho were overheard speaking their native language were given a small\npiece of wood to hang around their neck and received\npunishment at the end of the day.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In 2011, English full-back Ben Foden added fuel to the fire when he claimed Wales was England\u2019s little brother which needed to be put in its place.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Huw\nPerry said he thought Brexit divisions and\nthe current political climate might have driven up anti-English sentiment.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Strength\nof Welsh rugby <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p>England\nfan Tom Keir, 22, from Bacup, Lancashire said the\nfixture has become even bigger in recent years, since Warren Gatland\u2019s reign.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cEngland\nhave been on the receiving end of some pretty big defeats to Wales, so getting\nthe opportunity to go against them there\u2019s always massive anticipation,\u201d he\nsaid.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Even\nmore important, is Wales\u2019 ability to dig deep and win when it really counts.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Obviously\ndeserving a mention is Wales\u2019 gutsy 28-25 win at Twickenham in the 2015 World\nCup which sent the hosts crashing out of the group stages of the tournament. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Wales secured\nthe stunning second-half victory despite being plagued by an injury crisis\nwhich had me, and many others, believing they were down and out. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>England\nfan James Lloyd, 23, from Nuneaton also spoke of\nthe time Wales \u201cfamously denied us the Grand Slam\nin 2013 when they whacked us 30-3 on the last weekend.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>English arrogance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Welsh fans were of the perspective that England fans were\ncomparatively more arrogant, especially since winning the 2003 World Cup.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cEnglish\nfans and players at the time just seemed to have an air of arrogance which I\nthink most Welsh fans, including myself, couldn\u2019t stand,\u201d said\nHuw Perry.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Tomos Morris said he thought attitudes might\nbe explained by the different classes playing the sport in the respective\nnations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhereas in England it\u2019s viewed as a public-school\ngame, it is very much a working-class sport in Wales.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cEvery man and his dog plays,\u201d he said.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Tomos will be attending tomorrow\u2019s game with a passionate\nEnglishman.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure how I\u2019ll cope\nwith hearing \u2018Swing Low\u2019 beaming around the stadium or that long four-hour\njourney back to Cardiff with him purring over Owen Farrell again,\u201d he joked.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bragging rights <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p>Accompanying an intense rivalry, of course,\ncomes intense bragging rights.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>For me, the torrent of abuse I\u2019d receive from my\nfriends if Wales lost was almost enough to consider taking the\nMonday off school.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou really don\u2019t want to be going into the office the\nnext morning for an earful on how good Eddie Jones\u2019 tactics were.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s about having the upper hand when giving out\nbanter,\u201d said Tomos Morris.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Rhys Knott, 39, a Welsh fan from Essex said a win was\ntraditionally important to keep everyone at his rugby club quiet.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Similarly, England fan Tom Keir said: \u201cIf we\ndo get the win it\u2019s a great feeling being able to have a bit of banter with any\nWelsh people you know.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut if you lose you just want to keep your head down and forget about it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wales v England statistics:<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Wales wins: 59<\/li><li>England wins: 63<\/li><li>Drawn: 12<\/li><li>Wales points: 1,593<\/li><li>England points: 1,758<\/li><li>Last five meetings: E E W E W <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>This\nmorning, I sent my mum and dad the same message, asking for their score\npredictions and got these predictable responses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Dad:\n\u201c25 to 9 in England\u2019s favour!
