Four of the&nbsp;children&nbsp;managed to climb the rocks to safety, but two&nbsp;remained stuck.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>After waiting an hour, the&nbsp;children&nbsp;called the police at 4.15pm, who contacted<a href=\"https:\/\/rnli.org\/\">&nbsp;RNLI <\/a>Barry Dock lifeboat, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southwales-fire.gov.uk\/\">South Wales Fire Service<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/barry.coastguard\/?__tn__=%2Cd%2CP-R&amp;eid=ARAMDZdBuYLEl-T5DhnEotxuxG1SMxuthBtw_pkq5pJx7XRMJsK7hrhJmTM3Yb-LklWN4cGvBmP5Ilkw\">Barry Coastguard<\/a>&nbsp;and Credit: Chris Fletcher<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>Barry Coastguard team showed up within 10 minutes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Chris Fletcher, station officer at\u00a0Barry Coastguard, said: \u201cWe\u00a0assisted them to safety, then\u00a0had a chat with the children while\u00a0we were waiting for their parents.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe explained that&nbsp;if it should happen again,&nbsp;they can call 999 and ask for a coastguard&nbsp;straightaway, as we are an emergency&nbsp;service.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>This is the first incident of the year&nbsp;involving an issue with the tides, but it is not&nbsp;unusual&nbsp;for the area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Barry Island has the second highest tidal range in the world, reaching up to 15&nbsp;metres.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Liam Kinson, 21, who used to live in Barry Island, said: \u201cThe tides were a nightmare when I was younger\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0they\u00a0rushed in out of nowhere.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe sand in the&nbsp;Old&nbsp;Harbour&nbsp;is like quicksand and you can get stuck&nbsp;really easily&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;I&#8217;ve lost roughly&nbsp;four&nbsp;pairs of shoes trying to&nbsp;reach&nbsp;some of the in Barry\u00a0that are dangerous because of the tides.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn Jackson&#8217;s Bay, there&#8217;s a&nbsp;rock&nbsp;that you can climb onto and when the&nbsp;tide comes in,&nbsp;you can get cut off completely,\u201d he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;ve been stuck for a couple hours on it when I was eight or nine because at that age you don&#8217;t know how deep\u00a0the water\u00a0is.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI had to wait until the tide slowed down a little\u00a0and\u00a0then try\u00a0to run\u00a0to\u00a0safety.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<div
