Credit: Welsh Rugby Union<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>WAYNE Pivac will be hoping that his Wales side follow in the footsteps of the 2014 team when they face Scotland later in the year. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>The game will be remembered for the first-half dismissal of current Scotland captain and full-back Stuart Hogg for a dangerous late shoulder-charge on Dan Biggar.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The victory is Wales\u2019 biggest ever winning margin against\nScotland.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Now in a position of responsibility for his country, Hogg will\nwant to avoid costing his country again after errors in this year\u2019s tournament consigned\nScotland to defeat against Ireland and England.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Similarly to this year, Wales went into the match after a\nloss against England needing a win to salvage some pride.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Scotland took the lead through a Greig Laidlaw penalty on\nthe fourth minute, but those would be the only points they would score that\nafternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>A penalty from Dan Biggar and a try from Liam Williams put Wales ahead by 10 points to three.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Then came Hogg\u2019s act of thuggery which saw the end of\nScottish competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>As fly-half Dan Biggar kicked the ball in the 23rd minute, Hogg ran in and dived at Biggar\u2019s head shoulder first.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Initially referee Jerome Garces gave the full-back a yellow card but changed this to red after consulting the video evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"487\" height=\"611\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/wvs-2014.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42344\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/03\/wvs-2014.png 487w, https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/03\/wvs-2014-239x300.png 239w, https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/03\/wvs-2014-293x368.png 293w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 487px) 100vw, 487px\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"487\" height=\"611\" src=\"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/wvs-2014.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42344\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/03\/wvs-2014.png 487w, https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/03\/wvs-2014-239x300.png 239w, https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2020\/03\/wvs-2014-293x368.png 293w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 487px) 100vw, 487px\" \/><\/noscript><figcaption>The starting line up featured a lot of familiar faces from the Wales side<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>The advantage Wales had was not immediately felt, with the\nnext try coming 11 minutes after Hogg\u2019s sending off.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The try was the first of two that George North would score\nthat day.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Jamie Roberts scored almost immediately afterwards down the\nsame left wing after a devastating break and offload from centre partner\nJonathan Davies to leave the score 27 \u2013 3 to Wales at half-time.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>After half-time, the floodgates opened with Wales exploiting\nthe one-man overlap to their full potential.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>North got his second try on the 41<sup>st<\/sup> minute after\nyet another break down the left wing from Liam Williams.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Roberts crossed the try line again after a flowing team move started by captain Sam Warburton in Wales&#8217;
