Avoid being kissed or licked and sharing food with\nyour pet.&nbsp; 2. Ensure you have supplies of pet food and medication in case\nof self-isolation. 3.&nbsp;Speak to your vet or doctor for more advice.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Dr Haines also suggests getting someone else to look after your pet if you are self-isolating or to use a dog walker.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>There is also advice on how to keep your dog happy without\nwalks, which is to replace exercise with mental stimulation.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Dr Haines proposes using a food puzzle to challenge your dog at teatime, teach them a new trick, hide treats around the garden for them to find or even to play them a <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/show\/0STnwcEaUq6mdrs4EKLyux\">podcast.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udc31\ud83c\udfe0\ud83d\udc31 &quot;The hooman is home, must stay near, they may has food!&quot; Who&#39;s taking part in the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/StayHomeChallenge?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#StayHomeChallenge<\/a>? Tweet us pictures of your purrfect pets working from home. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/QuarantineCats?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#QuarantineCats<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8yf6flJxv8\">pic.twitter.com\/8yf6flJxv8<\/a><\/p>&mdash; RSPCA (England &amp; Wales) (@RSPCA_official) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RSPCA_official\/status\/1239855307527983105?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 17, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>Dr Haines has also issued advice for those who are showing symptoms of Covid-19.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>She said: \u201cYou should restrict contact with pets and other\nanimals while you are sick with Covid just like you would around other people. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cAlthough there have not been reports of pets or other\nanimals becoming sick with Covid, it is still recommended that people sick with\nCovid limit contact with animals until more information is known about the\nvirus.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen possible, have another member of your household care\nfor your animals while you are sick. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you are sick with Covid avoid contact with your pet,\nincluding petting, snuggling, being kissed or licked and sharing food. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you must care for your pet or be around animals while\nyou are sick, wash your hands before and after you interact with pets and wear\na facemask.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cRemember these are precautionary measures and there is currently\nno evidence that pets can spread coronavirus or become unwell.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>British Vets have also been told by the Royal College of Veterinary\nSurgeons that they may need to depart from best practice, in order to\nsafeguard yourself and your colleagues, as well as public health.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Vale Vets on Cathedral Road said they are taking precautionary measures.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re just wearing gloves and cleaning all the time, cleaning door handles.
