company, Avant Cymru, have moved all their classes online to help young people keep active and focused during the lock-down. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>A WELSH theatre company has moved all their exercise classes\nand rehearsals online to \u201ckeep active and connected\u201d during the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.avant.cymru\/\">Avant Cymru<\/a>, based in Rhondda, will be discussing how to improve well-being during their online classes. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Jamie Berry, a choreographer and dancer at Avant Cymru,\nsaid: \u201cIt is a frustrating time for us all. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cDuring the pandemic, I want to enable my crew, my students\nand my peers who we train with to keep progressing and I promise to keep\nencouraging them all.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy continuing to do this, it will keep young people\u2019s minds focused and allow all of us to stay healthy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure choreographer and dancer for Avant Cymru, turned to break-dancing to help with his mental health during difficult times.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Jamie has turned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-wales-48395311?fbclid=IwAR2u0fWJtGkzA1d4g6B-xe2PvNbAD4TahczNhgyO0ned_2ScpHdI-ELCZ94\">break-dancing to help with his own mental health<\/a> and GPs now refer people to his classes.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\nwill post online opportunities to follow how I am using theatre and breakdancing\nto look after my health and wellbeing (especially mental health),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cI will work with Avant Cymru to post learning ideas\nstudents can try safely at home \u2013 people can join in by taking part, by asking\nquestions, posting comments, liking and sharing posts.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>These classes will be posted on Avant Cymru\u2019s YouTube\nchannel and other social media platforms. <\/p>\n\n\n<div <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>There will\nbe activities in drama, script writing, dance and art.&nbsp;There will also\nbe live Q&amp;A\u2019s with\npioneers of Hip Hop Theatre such as&nbsp;Duwane&nbsp;Tayor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Rachel Pedley, Artistic Director of Avant Cymru, said: \u201cWe have also started to work together with the Welsh Hip Hop Culture scene and have started collecting and developing an online archive for the People&#8217;s Collection Wales website.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt will be\na place to come together and reflect what the hip-hop scene has achieved in\nWales.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Avant Cymru\nhold classes and performances which tour nationally and internationally.
