\nFORMER Cardiff City striker Rudy Gestede hit a late leveller for Blackburn to deny Russell Slade his first win in seven games, as it finished all-square at Cardiff City Stadium.
\nSean Morrison\u2019s 84th minute header looked to have secured all three points for the home side, but Gestede\u2019s 90th minute equaliser meant the spoils were shared, despite a spirited home performance.
\nAnd Slade was full for praise for his side after the game. He said:\u201cWe had good periods of control tonight and when we got that goal in the 84th minute we thought it might be enough.
\n\u201cThe only time in the game when we haven\u2019t defended well was in conceding that late goal.
\nNew boy Eoin Doyle started alongside Kenwyne Jones in attack on just his second start, going close on 16 minutes only to be denied by Matt Kilgallon\u2019s goal line block.
\nSlade added: \u201cWe went with two strikers today and looked to play with a higher tempo. There were good partnerships all over the pitch for us tonight.\u201d
\nCardiff produced a last-ditch clearance of their own when Sean Morrison scrambled away Josh King\u2019s effort.
\nThe home side again had the impressive Morrison to thank after the restart, when his brave tackle prevented King from scoring after a marvellous solo run.
\nKenywne Jones saw a headed effort of his own fly just wide, after good work by Matthew Kennedy on the right, before Kennedy\u2019s curling shot was saved by Rovers\u2019 \u2018keeper Jason Steele.
\nIcelandic midfielder Aaron Gunnarson almost capped off a fine Cardiff move on 66 minutes but sliced his strike past the post.
\nThe visitors were then a whisker away from delivering the sucker-punch on 75 minutes when Chris Taylor\u2019s cross was directed agonisingly wide by King.
\nSean Morrison then looked to have won the game for Cardiff when he nodded in Peter Whittingham\u2019s corner\u00a0six minutes from time.
\nBut the lead did not last long as King, the stand-out performer for the Gary Bowyer\u2019s visitors saw his effort stopped on the line from Markus Olsson\u2019s cross, only for Gestede to hammer home the equaliser.
\nBut Bowyer will be content with a point for his side, as the play-off chasers\u00a0remain 8th.
\nBut the pressure will only increase on his opposite number Slade who watched his side turn in a better display than last week\u2019s stalemate with Brighton, only for them to stay in 15th, just seven points above the drop zone.
\n\u201cWe thoroughly deserved the three points tonight but if we continue in this way and our attitude is right then we can get good results,\u201d said\u00a0Slade.
