The advert was spotted by popular Cardiff twitter account I Loves the Diff earlier this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Kidney needed. Hope a kind stranger, or the NHS transplant list, comes through. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/LlandaffNorth?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#LlandaffNorth<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0HTM3C75kS\">pic.twitter.com\/0HTM3C75kS<\/a><\/p>&mdash; I Loves The &#39;Diff (@ILovesTheDiff) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ILovesTheDiff\/status\/1360615622221197312?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 13, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Diana says she&#8217;s been told that the backlog of patients in need of a kidney is so significant that she can\u2019t be put on the donor waiting list, and that the backlog may take longer to clear as GPs are not testing potential donors at their practices during the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy phrenologist said that they\u2019d received an official letter from a GP practice saying that they don\u2019t feel that this is their responsibility, especially during Covid, and the hospital should do it,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The problem is that people who want to donate are all over the country. They\u2019re not all concentrated in one area. The chemotherapy required to manage her condition, along with her kidney problems, means she is identified as \u201cclinically extremely vulnerable\u201d to coronavirus, and must shield at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the start of the pandemic she took sick leave from work, but found this to be a struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSick pay is ridiculous, honestly. For the first few months, I did go on sick pay. But then I asked my employers if they could please furlough me, because I was really struggling with my rent,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Statutory sick pay (SSP) in the UK is \u00a395.95 per week, and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/europe\/uk-sick-pay-legislation-eu-law-breach-council-europe-social-charter-a8176396.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">described as \u201cmanifestly inadequate\u201d in a 2018 report by the European Committee of Social Rights.<\/a><a href=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Welsh Government offers a \u201cCovid-19 statutory sick pay enhancement scheme\u201d, but this is only available to care workers. The Scottish National Party this week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/19096718.covid-call-tories-focus-sick-pay-budget-uk-sick-man-europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called for the UK government to increase the SSP in line with a living wage.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, Diana\u2019s employers at CJCH Solicitors agreed to furlough her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her fianc\u00e9, Sandeep Singh Randhawa, used to run his own logistics company, but the loss of clients over the course of the pandemic eventually put him out of business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sandeep now works at a post office, and the risk of him bringing the virus home is a constant worry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diana said: \u201cWe had to decide what was more important \u2013 us not starving to death, or me not catching the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;For the first six months, we had to stay in separate rooms. We had to keep distancing, and every time that he came home \u2013 all the precautions. She received her first dose two weeks ago, and hopes to receives her second by April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe chemotherapy which I take suppresses the immune system, and they\u2019re afraid that I won\u2019t even have a well enough functioning immune system to respond to the vaccine. They might give me a vaccine and nothing happens,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;So, it\u2019s like \u2013 what\u2019s the priority? For me to be fully vaccinated, or for me to keep my condition at bay?
