Breakfast truck makes its debut alongside stalls selling bread, fresh veg, fish and more<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

CANTON’S farmers’ market is re-opening on Sunday for the first time in 2021 with established and new food stalls open for takeaway orders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fresh & Wild <\/em>farmers’ market was the first of its kind in Canton and, after having to close down after Christmas, it\u2019s re-opening on February 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s a massive appetite for the market, so I think we\u2019ll be busy,\u201d said Jodie Davies, who runs the Bone Yard and organises Fresh & Wild<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A brand-new food truck by Bad Boy Brownies\u2019 founder Helen Gorman called Toast, is also making its debut on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s going to be pancakes and bacon and maple syrup and really nice breakfast as well,\u201d said Jodie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The market will be open from 10am to 3pm and is located on The Bone Yard<\/span><\/a> on Paper Mill Road, which also hosts traders including Jodie\u2019s jewellery studio Crane, Dusty Knuckle caf\u00e9 and pizzeria, and Bad Boy Brownies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The market is currently open on the last Sunday of the month, but organisers are looking to make it weekly when the weather gets warmer around April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The traders are not Canton-based businesses but come from across the Cardiff area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jodie explains that the selection of stalls grew organically, building on relationships and recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWith Fresh and Wild we wanted to get really high-quality food, organic wherever possible and make sure that it\u2019s as sustainable as possible so we\u2019ve kind of welcomed and hand-picked all the traders,\u201d said Jodie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The retail stores in The Bone Yard are currently operating on a click-and-collect basis but will not be open during the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, 10 stalls will be at the market, serving anything from bread to pickles, brownies, organic re-fills and fresh produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fresh & Wild<\/em> first opened in March 2020 with the pandemic and with lockdowns it\u2019s been tricky, said Jodie.

\u201cIt\u2019s been a lot of stops and starts but all the markets that we\u2019ve managed to do throughout that time have been really well attended and they’ve had a really nice atmosphere,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though the market will be outdoors all visitors are encouraged to wear masks, and hand sanitizer will also be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it should get too busy on the day for social distancing to work, a one-in-one-out system will be introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve developed a sort of nice core group of traders and now we\u2019re looking to expand a bit more and hopefully we\u2019re going to make it a regular food shopping spot for people,\u201d said Jodie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
