Mould, damp, and cold temperatures worsening as third winter looms, say tenants<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

RESIDENTS of Lydstep Flats still face cold temperatures, mould and damp in their council housing, three years after the removal of cladding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff Council removed<\/a> the external insulation in November 2018 after the Grenfell fire. However, continuous changes to building regulations, the COVID-19 pandemic, and Brexit have caused what one councillor dubbed a \u201cperfect storm\u201d and led to years of delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As residents head into winter, they are still awaiting answers on when exactly the cladding will be reinstalled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff Council have only said the process will begin \u201cas soon as possible\u201d and the recladding scheme should be completed by early 2023<\/a>. This would be nearly five years after the cladding was first removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naomi Moore, 39, has lived in Lydstep Flats for 10 years with her partner and two children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since she moved in, her family has dealt with mould, condensation on the windows, blocked drains, and broken lifts, along with cold temperatures. Many of these problems grew more severe when the cladding was removed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs Moore said: \u201cMould has always been an issue \u2026 but not as thick and extreme it has been since the cladding has come down, the cold wet weather has caused it to get extremely bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
