Along the way he judged\u00a0314 different pie establishments on the nine P&#8217;s \u2013\u00a0\u201cpremises, purchase, place, pastry, presentation, package, palate, price and portion\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5450\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5450\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/histoiry41.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-5450 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/histoiry41.jpg\" alt=\"histoiry4\" width=\"300\" height=\"287\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5450\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5450 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/histoiry41.jpg\" alt=\"histoiry4\" width=\"300\" height=\"287\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> Clark&#8217;s Pie shop in Grangetown opened in 1955<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\">Despite naming Green\u2019s Bakery in Barrow, Cumbria, as his winner, Mr Tarbuck included\u00a0only one Welsh name in his top ten \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.clarkspies.co.uk\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clark\u2019s Pies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">When describing his trip to their store in Grangetown, he said: \u201cPulled up in a working class area of Cardiff to be hit by the sweet aroma of baking, and students wheeling shopping trollies back to the supermarket they carried them from the previous night just to get the quid back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And the\u00a0pie itself? \u201cIt\u2019s a mountain of pie for a quid,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It&#8217;s dark, deep and devious with a dense, rock-shaped crust and the official CLARPIE stamp on the underside.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5448\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5448\" style=\"width: 259px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-5448 \" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SOR_clarks_online.jpg\" alt=\"SOR_clarks_online\" width=\"259\" height=\"182\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5448\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5448 \" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/SOR_clarks_online.jpg\" alt=\"SOR_clarks_online\" width=\"259\" height=\"182\" \/><\/noscript> Clark&#8217;s original small potato and beef pie<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cNo sooner than I have bit into it, I end up with a \u2018Clark\u2019s tache\u2019 as they call it in these parts, with peppery gravy spilling onto my top lip.
