Opposition councillors condemn report into the council\u2019s handling of the original planning application<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

OPPOSITION councillors in the Vale of Glamorgan have criticised a report carried out into the council\u2019s handling of the Barry Biomass planning permission process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report was commissioned by the council after concerns were raised about how the controversial plant was given planning permission back in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some Barry residents have been campaigning against the incinerator for more than 10 years<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Monday’s full council meeting, where councillors voted 26-18 in favour of recognising the report, some members claimed that they had been given insufficient opportunity to debate the original planning request..<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report, carried out earlier this year by a barrister, found \u201cno evidence of illegality or maladministration\u201d within the council and no \u201ccause for any concern that Officers acted negligently or unprofessionally\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
