St Curig&#8217;s held a Christmas concert, sold hand-painted Christmas cards by one of the congregation, and held a silent auction and race night. Mr\u00a0Loveluck-Edwards ran the Dublin marathon and raised about \u00a3600 for the fund.<br \/>\nThere were also individual donations from the weekly congregation of between 15 and 20 people.<br \/>\nThe Rev\u00a0Prince said: \u201cIt felt like a mountain to climb to get the money.\u201d<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7341\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7341\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/St-Curigs-Church-Organ-for-web.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-7341 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/St-Curigs-Church-Organ-for-web-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"The organ at the church of St Curig's, Porthkerry\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7341\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7341 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/St-Curigs-Church-Organ-for-web-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"The organ at the church of St Curig's, Porthkerry\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> <strong>The organ at the church of St Curig&#8217;s, Porthkerry<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nSt Curig\u2019s also received a grant from the Welsh Government Cadw scheme designed to help repair and conserve war memorials in Wales. To qualify the church had to show original 1921 planning documents to prove that the organ was installed as a war memorial.<br \/>\nIt also received from the Pilgrim Trust, the Allchurches Trust and the On Organ Fund. St Curig\u2019s reached its total of \u00a315,000 in July 2015 and Clevedon Organs began the restoration work in September.<br \/>\nThere are three stages to organ restoration: dismantling the structure, repairing the wood and the rebuild.
