Tour De Galles will go it alone on their 300-mile journey for Motor Neurone Disease Association<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A GROUP of cyclists is taking on a gruelling charity ride from Aberystwyth to Cardiff … without a support van.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tour De Galles riders are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their annual fundraiser this year by challenging themselves to their biggest ever ride to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe normally choose local charities but, after talking to the senior cohort, we decided on Motor Neurone Disease Association for this year,\u201d said Rhys Bebb, one of the men taking part. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMost of the lads are massive rugby and football fans, so have grown up watching people like Doddie Weir and Jason Bowen who have recently been diagnosed with the disease. We want to do our bit.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A group of 12 will be taking part in the 300-mile route from Aberystwyth to Cardiff city centre. The journey will take three days and the group has chosen for the first time to do this without a support van. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their longest route ever will see them hug the coastline of West Wales, stopping overnight in Tenby and Swansea.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMost of us cycle on a daily basis so that gives us the basic fitness. We have chosen this route because it is further than ever before,\u201d said Mr Bebb.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In previous years, Tour De Galles has completed routes including cycling from Cardiff to Bath, Gloucester, and back. Their first ride in 2013 was from Holyhead to Cardiff to raise money for Keep Wales Tidy. They have raised around \u00a32,000 for each ride.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each ride has been done for a different charity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
