Hedgehog numbers are “declining at the same rate as tigers” – Wildlife Trust<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

YEAR 2 pupils at Ysgol Gwaelod y Garth have built hedgehog hotels with the Wildlife Trust<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pupils got stuck in – nailing pieces of wood together and collecting leaves – to make two hedgehog hotels with a corrugated roof nailed on the top. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hedgehog hotels were then placed on their school grounds, providing a safe haven for the animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rhian Darch, the class teacher, said the project is a hands-on way for the pupils to learn about animal hibernation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe children are so excited about this project, so it’s been really worthwhile seeing their smiles today,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
