He has been offered a year-long course at Bridgend College to help him develop his skills but his local authority is unable to fund it so his family set up the fundraising scheme.<br \/>\nDewi\u2019s Dreams is helping Dewi James, from Pontypridd, undergo a life-changing operation. The three-year-old suffers with Diplegia Spasticity Cerebral Palsy, and finds it difficult to walk and balance properly.<br \/>\nTo enable Dewi to travel to America for the Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy operation, his family have raised money for the Tree of Hope, an organisation that helps\u00a0families of sick and disabled British children in need of specialist medical treatment.<br \/>\nDewi&#8217;s father Rob James said: \u201cDespite Dewi&#8217;s surgery being very successful, we are still fundraising for\u00a0his post-op physiotherapy which he requires on a daily basis.\u00a0 As most of this has to be provided on a private basis averaging \u00a3100 a session, we still have a great deal to raise.\u00a0 We are very grateful and appreciative of the funds that have been raised by Radyr Comprehensive School and we look forward to meeting up with them in the near future.\u201d<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8056\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8056\" style=\"width: 388px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/9d5e2bc6-c9ab-4326-9f94-ed6307e22806.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8056\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/9d5e2bc6-c9ab-4326-9f94-ed6307e22806-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"9d5e2bc6-c9ab-4326-9f94-ed6307e22806\" width=\"388\" height=\"291\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8056\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8056\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/9d5e2bc6-c9ab-4326-9f94-ed6307e22806-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"9d5e2bc6-c9ab-4326-9f94-ed6307e22806\" width=\"388\" height=\"291\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> <strong>Radyr pupils at one of their stalls<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nThe pupils raised money in a variety of ways from selling cakes to having their legs waxed. Some also worked together to host a musical concert.<br \/>\nThis term, the students aim to share their knowledge by using their experiences to teach younger pupils about why charity work is so important.<br \/>\nDr John Roe, who works with the sixth form students, said: \u201cThe students will be focusing on raising awareness for these two charities by holding workshops with younger students within the school.<br \/>\n\u201cThe workshops will aim to raise awareness of how Cerebral Palsy and Down&#8217;s Syndrome affect people.
