Plans submitted to the council show there would only be an additional 64 parking spaces for the proposed 117 homes.<br \/>\nBuilding work is already due to start on eight new homes further along Schooner Way, which have increased concerns among residents about the timing of the construction.<br \/>\nBernard James, a member of the Atlantic Wharf Residents Association, was critical of the plans: \u201cIt is inevitable the ground near Schooner Way will be developed but we are unhappy about a few things that don\u2019t seem to go our way,&#8221; he said.<br \/>\n\u201cWe would have preferred if the site was high-quality homes which were sold on the open market. The quantity of social housing being proposed does not make sense for the area.\u201d<br \/>\nThe proposed site is currently wasteland at the back of County Hall which has been left disused for many years. Extensive work must take place\u00a0to make the site suitable before any construction can begin.<br \/>\nThe Atlantic Wharf Residents Association are also unhappy with Morganstone Ltd regarding the amount of compensation they would pay the council &#8211; known as a Section 106 agreement &#8211; if the plans were agreed.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8118\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8118\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/schooner-housing-build.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8118 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/schooner-housing-build-300x223.jpg\" alt=\"schooner housing build\" width=\"300\" height=\"223\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8118\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8118 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/schooner-housing-build-300x223.jpg\" alt=\"schooner housing build\" width=\"300\" height=\"223\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> The proposed site for 117 new homes. A decision is due tomorrow.<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nMr James\u00a0said: \u201cThe numbers put forward have not been fair. If this site does get the go ahead tomorrow, we would want to see Cardiff City Council ring-fence the money to help develop Atlantic Wharf. It would not be fair to see this money go elsewhere.\u201d<br \/>\nThe application put forward by Morganstone Ltd and Cardiff Community housing claim\u00a0they would pay \u00a3613,679.25 via\u00a0section 106 \u00a0when monitoring fees are included. They claim this would make the project too expensive.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nTheir joint housing application added: \u201cThe application would provide dwellings which would contribute to meeting a 5-year housing land shortfall.<br \/>\n\u201cThe site will provide much needed affordable housing, above the 20% requirement for affordable housing on brownfield land.\u201d<br \/>\nA decision will\u00a0be\u00a0announced at the Planning Committee meeting in County Hall at 2.30pm tomorrow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CONTROVERSIAL plans to build 117 new homes in Cardiff Bay will be debated by councillors tomorrow.
