{"id":82410,"date":"2024-02-13T15:01:23","date_gmt":"2024-02-13T15:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/?p=82410"},"modified":"2024-02-13T15:02:59","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T15:02:59","slug":"llandaff-north-is-a-food-hotspot-thats-bucking-the-trend-during-tough-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2024\/02\/13\/llandaff-north-is-a-food-hotspot-thats-bucking-the-trend-during-tough-times\/","title":{"rendered":"Llandaff North is a food hotspot that&#8217;s bucking the trend during tough times"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Three new eateries have opened on Station Road in the last two years while many businesses have been forced to close in the current cost-of-living crisis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PORGIE\u2019S Puddings &amp; Pies becomes the latest addition to Station Road\u2019s train of eateries when it opened its doors on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George Payne, the deli&#8217;s 28-year-old owner, only picked up the keys to the property at 109 Station Road on the February 1 &#8211; just 11 days before opening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the opportunity to open a deli in that location was too good to turn down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI looked at a number of buildings around Cardiff before I found this one,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I had been looking for the right location for a while. I wanted to open in a village and Llandaff North seemed perfect. I think it\u2019s what the village were waiting for to be honest,\u201d Craig told Wales Online after opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In January this year, Saul Johnstone expanded his \u2018Artiste\u2019 brand by opening Caf\u00e9 Artiste just a few doors down from his hairdressing business, Salon Artiste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saul\u2019s new caf\u00e9, serves premium coffee and food and the owner hopes to provide customers with \u201ca stylish, relaxed slice of escapism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are further plans for new businesses in Llandaff North on the horizon too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rainbow Fruit and Vegetable Stall will be opening on April 1, working out of the Railway Hotel car park on Station Road.
