so they&#8217;re obviously cowboy builders who don&#8217;t have a waste licence or are unwilling to pay to dump their waste commercially.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8289\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8289\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Fly-tipping-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8289\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Fly-tipping-3-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Fly-tipping causing outrage\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8289\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8289\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Fly-tipping-3-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Fly-tipping causing outrage\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> <strong>Fly-tipping in Splott<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n\u201cI&#8217;ve tried taking photos of the vans to send to police and Cardiff Council, and have described them to various officials, yet nothing is ever done. \u201c<br \/>\nAnother Splott resident, Lynne Thomas of Aberystwyth Street,has also experienced fly-tipping.<br \/>\n\u201cSwansea Street in particular really suffers from people driving up and dumping rubbish,\u201d she said.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019d like to see proactive plans from the council to tackle the rubbish-dumping, and avoid the continued spoiling of these streets.<br \/>\n\u201cCardiff Council would rather just come and collect the rubbish &#8211; whether fly-tipping or household waste &#8211; rather than solve the problem.\u201d<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Fly-tipping-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8292\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Fly-tipping-4-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Rubbish being dumped on Splott: Council's prevention policies brought into question\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8292\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Fly-tipping-4-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Rubbish being dumped on Splott: Council's prevention policies brought into question\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Rubbish dumped in Splott<\/strong><br \/>\nThe maximum fine for fly-tipping is \u00a350,000, when\u00a0enforcement officers are at hand to catch those responsible.<br \/>\nHowever, it is difficult to obtain reliable evidence that can lead to a prosecution.<br \/>\nLabour councillor for Splott Edward Stubbs conceded that fly-tipping was an issue in the area.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is a big issue everywhere,\u201d added Coun\u00a0Stubbs.<br \/>\n\u201cI saw some fly-tipping just outside the mental health unit on the royal infirmary a few months ago.\u00a0Some people seemingly have no respect for anything.&#8221;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Fly-tipping-6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8296\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Fly-tipping-6-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Inappropriate place to dispose of waste\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8296\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Fly-tipping-6-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Inappropriate place to dispose of waste\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><br \/>\n<b>Dumped sofa<\/b><br \/>\nBut Coun\u00a0Stubbs believes the blame should not lie with the council.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019d like to see more resources thrown to try and trace these individuals. But it\u2019s not good enough to pin it on the council because the people who are doing the fly tipping need to be prosecuted.<br \/>\n\u201cWe need to see more concrete examples of prosecutions so people think twice.\u201d<br \/>\nCardiff residents who have suffered fly-tipping can report the incident to\u00a0Cardiff Council\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardiff.gov.uk\/ENG\/resident\/Rubbish-and-recycling\/Report-a-problem\/Report-fly-tipping\/Pages\/Report-fly-tipping.aspx\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RESIDENTS in Splott\u00a0have taken to social media to voice their concerns over fly-tipping in the area.
