Credit: International sustainability unit.<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nThis is the latest career highlight for Mr Hussain who won Young Fish Frier of the Year in 2012 after four years of entering.<br \/>\nAs a result of winning the competition, Mr Hussain was flown to Edinburgh to cook and talk with Prince Charles.<br \/>\nMr Hussein became the first Young Fish Frier competition winner to judge at the National Awards the year after winning.<br \/>\nAnd this year he was promoted to finals judge, joining 11 other industry experts on the panel.<br \/>\nMr Hussein said: \u201cThis is judging at the highest level in our industry and it\u2019s a career highlight for me to be chosen as a judge at the age of 29.<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s not often that people my age get an experience like this and it\u2019s quite humbling. It\u2019s an honour and a privilege as everyone else in the room is about 40.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019ve been on similar judging panels every year since winning the Young Fish Frier competition but this is a lot more intense.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8307\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8307\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Zohaib.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-8307 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Zohaib.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8307\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8307 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Zohaib.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> Zohaib Hussain when he was Young Fish Frier of the Year.<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s an important show and it feels amazing to be chosen to judge the finals.\u201d<br \/>\nMr Hussain, 29, has been the manager of his parents&#8217; fish and chip shop, since completing his bachelor\u2019s degree in Accountancy eight years ago.<br \/>\n\u201cAfter I finished my degree someone asked me what I wanted to be and I couldn\u2019t give an answer. I knew I couldn\u2019t sit in an office all day,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8349\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8349\" style=\"width: 169px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/20160119_1654041.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8349\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/20160119_1654041.jpg\" alt=\"Mr Hussain judging the 2016 finalists.\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8349\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8349\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/20160119_1654041.jpg\" alt=\"Mr Hussain judging the 2016 finalists.\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> Mr Hussain judging the 2016 finalists.<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n\u201cAs I\u2019d worked in my parents shop part-time when I was younger I thought I\u2019d give it ago and I became manager of the shop as soon as I came out of university.\u201d<br \/>\nMr Hussain\u2019s parents moved from Pakistan to Wales in 1984 and have owned Zero Plus Fish Bar for 26 years.<br \/>\n\u201cMy parents moved over to the Valleys because of the business opportunities and as our relatives ran a fish and chip shop in Cardiff they invited us over and helped us set up,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cOur most popular dish is fish and chips but our delicacy is chicken curry which is home made.\u201d<br \/>\nThe winner of the Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award will be announced on January 20.<br \/>\nThe finalists are being judged on presentations and the winner will be judged on their business policies, according to Mr Hussain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A CANTON fish and chip shop owner will choose the country\u2019s best chippy tomorrow as a judge at National Fish and Chip Awards in London.
