It&#8217;s healthy as well and it\u2019s good for her to get exercise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the morning it\u2019s great for them to get to school by bike instead of by car. He volunteers at Treganna Primary\u2019s Bike Bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn city areas like Canton you often have a lot of problems with congestion,\u201d he said. \u201cIt causes environmental damage, it\u2019s bad for the economy and most importantly, it can cause safety issues around the school gates.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Furlong told me: \u201cWe had lots of problems with traffic. It was full of cars trying to turn around and park \u2013 it was chaotic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, the road outside the school is virtually traffic-free and it\u2019s become a buzzing, social area where children, parents, and teachers all mix. It\u2019s quite social for the volunteers and the children,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Belding hopes that one day there will be no need for Bike Buses because so many children will be cycling to school that it happens \u201corganically&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want to show what is possible and to highlight that there are still a lot of barriers that prevent people from cycling to school. Just 15.7% prefer to be driven.
