{"id":8395,"date":"2016-01-26T19:00:44","date_gmt":"2016-01-26T19:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/?p=8395"},"modified":"2016-01-26T19:00:44","modified_gmt":"2016-01-26T19:00:44","slug":"cardiff-council-obejct-caerau-landfill-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2016\/01\/26\/cardiff-council-obejct-caerau-landfill-site\/","title":{"rendered":"Cardiff Council obejct to Caerau landfill site"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CARDIFF Council has submitted a formal application to object to the proposed redevelopment of Ely brickworks.<br \/>\nThe original planning application had been put forward to the Vale of Glamorgan Council due to the site falling outside of Cardiff city limits.<br \/>\nThe objection is on the grounds of access and transport issues which centre on Cwrt-Yr-Ala Road in Caerau.<br \/>\nIf approved, the site would be filled with \u2018inert waste\u2019 in an attempt to join up the two parts of Caerau Wood.<br \/>\nWhile the waste is not harmful, many local residents have voiced their disapproval about the site and in particular the access routes and number of HGVs in the area.<br \/>\nOfficers from Cardiff Transport visited the site last week with Caerau councillor Peter Bradbury before lodging their\u00a0objection.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8400\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8400\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Screen-Shot-2016-01-26-at-14.20.55.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8400\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Screen-Shot-2016-01-26-at-14.20.55-300x188.png\" alt=\"Cwrt-Yr-Ala road is a quiet residential road, argue residents\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8400\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8400\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Screen-Shot-2016-01-26-at-14.20.55-300x188.png\" alt=\"Cwrt-Yr-Ala road is a quiet residential road, argue residents\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> Cwrt-Yr-Ala road is a quiet residential road, argue residents<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nA council spokesperson said: \u201cThe City of Cardiff Council\u2019s planning authority objected to this planning application due to the impact of heavy traffic and the impact on the environment.<br \/>\n\u201cThe applicant amended their plans to agree to additional survey and testing but this did not outweigh the concerns relating to the use of Cwrt-Yr-Ala Road as a primary access road to the site.\u201d<br \/>\nA spokesman for Ermaer Limited, who submitted the application said: \u201cAfter speaking to one local councillor we have agreed to limit the delivery hours to between 9am and 3pm to miss all school traffic as well as rush hour traffic.<br \/>\n\u201cCardiff have objected on account of noise and disturbance if the maximum 28 lorries per day were allowed.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are in talks with local residents who wish to shut down the quarry once and for all. I am disappointed that a few people in the area are hijacking the facts.\u201d<br \/>\nThe developer has since submitted further documents for the planning application stating that they \u201cunderstand the sensitivities arising from increased HGV traffic\u201d.<br \/>\nLabour councillor Mr Bradbury, said: \u201cI stand with my residents on this completely because the road is small and narrow with 350 houses off it.\u201d<br \/>\nThe official objection will be seen as a success for local residents, who turned out in force at a public meeting earlier this month and also produced a petition with 600 signatures opposing the site.<br \/>\nA decision will be made by the Vale in their March planning meeting.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CARDIFF Council has submitted a formal application to object to the proposed redevelopment of Ely brickworks.
