We had about 26 people for our first tour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;That was between three o\u2019clock and four o\u2019clock. But between 2pm and 3pm we had cancellation after cancellation.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few hours later, the then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the first UK lockdown due to Covid-19, but the warnings had been circulating throughout the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Silent adventures &#8211; a company which hosts group walking tours around Cardiff while customers listen to music on headphones &#8211; not being able to go outside or gather in groups was a significant problem on their first day of business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe people that showed up to the tour were determined to have a good time until we were told that we couldn\u2019t,&#8221; said Mr Tole-Moir. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We rocked on until we were told not to.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After such a difficult start, Silent Adventures was only able to start up again Cardiff last summer &#8211; albeit with more caution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe class=\"zeen-lazy-load-base zeen-lazy-load\" title=\"Silent disco walking tours in Cardiff\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"about:blank\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QCViht6bwmE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><noscript><iframe title=\"Silent disco walking tours in Cardiff\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QCViht6bwmE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/noscript>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Come with The Cardiffian on a silent disco walking tour of Cardiff. People wear headphones which play music chosen by DJs &#8211; but the music is not played aloud in the room. If you remove your headphones, you hear only silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Silent Adventures says it offers a different experience to traditional silent discos that can feel \u201cboxed-in\u201d. Their tours through busy Cardiff streets attract attention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We get random passers-by thinking you are the best thing in the world, and they want to join in. That\u2019s amazing,&#8221; said Mr Tole-Moir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe always get comments on Facebook saying, \u2018Oh I\u2019ve seen these people in Cardiff\u2019, or \u2018These are the people that went past those shops the other day\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe people in Cardiff are accepting of who you are. If you want to go out and throw your arms in the air, nine times out of 10 people will join you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>Silent Adventures begin their tours at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maddogbrew.co.uk\/taproom\">The Mad Dog Brewery<\/a> on Castle Street.
