Support for more funding for driving, while still lower than in 2019, rose by 7% between 2021 and 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si\u00e2n Donovan, director of Pedal Power Cardiff, a charity that promotes cycling, said: \u201cThat feeling of \u2018them versus us\u2019 just seems to be being ramped up all the time in various guises and one of them then becomes against cyclists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow, it\u2019s \u2018the devil\u2019s work\u2019 putting in a cycle way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>How often people in Cardiff cycle<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\t\t<div said: \u201cSomehow climate and all the benefits of cycling, including the health benefits, have just been forgotten completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s absurd, plus a driver is not just a McCaul<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sustrans estimated that cycling in Cardiff saves the NHS \u00a32.4 million per year through the health benefits it brings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey also shows some other trends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fewer people in Cardiff cycled regularly in 2023 compared with two years earlier, despite three miles of new cycle paths being built. In 2023, 19% cycled at least once a week, down from 23% in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stephen Cunnah, policy and external affairs manager at Sustrans, said: \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s statistically significant. I think that\u2019s wrong-headed \u2013 when people do walk and cycle, it actually reduces congestion because they\u2019re not in a car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI cycle around Cardiff, not only because I\u2019m passionate about cycling, but it\u2019s actually the easiest way to get around. Walking and cycling are the cheapest way to travel, you know, you\u2019re going to save a lot of money.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think we need to be better at making the argument as well to
