People are looking for a road other than austerity,\u201d said Mr Saunders.<br \/>\n\u201cWe think that Labour councillors in particular that are running councils like Cardiff should heed that, and should turn aside from the policies that they carried out in implementing the cuts that the government\u2019s demanding.<br \/>\n\u201cThey are calling for \u00a336 million worth of cuts, and there are some services cut that are extremely important to the community, and will do some real damage if they are implemented.\u201d<br \/>\nMr Saunders is particularly concerned by the decision to remove Splott\u2019s STAR Centre, which has been a focus for the community with its\u00a0library, swimming pool and sports hall.<br \/>\n\u201cThat could potentially be a killing blow for Splott,\u201d said Mr Saunders.<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s wounded already, you see services disappearing from the area.\u00a0There are a lot of social problems developing there already, and they are just going to get worse with less to do in the area.<br \/>\n\u201cWhat the council says is that they are going to provide an alternative facility to replace both the STAR Centre, the leisure centre, and the Splott pool facility.<br \/>\n\u201cTheir real plan was to create a cut-price system that won\u2019t even include a sports hall.<br \/>\n\u201cSo it\u2019s going to mean a big cut in the services on offer in an area that doesn\u2019t have enough services already.<br \/>\n\u201cEverybody in Splott, and everybody in the city is going to have to pay the consequence of that when society disintegrates.\u201d<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9072\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9072\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Ross-pic-2.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-9072\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-9072 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Ross-pic-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Cardiff Against The Cutsa t County Hall\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9072\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-9072 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Ross-pic-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Cardiff Against The Cutsa t County Hall\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> <strong>Cardiff Against The Cuts at County Hall<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nMr Saunders is also concerned with cuts to other services, such as doctors\u2019 surgeries and care homes for the elderly.<br \/>\n\u201cOne of the most worrying things is what the plans are for the Alzheimer\u2019s day centre in Penylan, which the council was forced to back off from closing immediately.
