The company is also planning to develop a skills academy at the site and make it a centre of excellence.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9300\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9300\" style=\"width: 443px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Carwyn-Jones-and-Andy-Palmer-present-the-new-crossover-vehicle..jpeg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-9300\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-9300\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Carwyn-Jones-and-Andy-Palmer-present-the-new-crossover-vehicle..jpeg\" alt=\"Carwyn Jones and Andy Palmer present the new crossover vehicle.\" width=\"443\" height=\"443\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9300\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9300\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Carwyn-Jones-and-Andy-Palmer-present-the-new-crossover-vehicle..jpeg\" alt=\"Carwyn Jones and Andy Palmer present the new crossover vehicle.\" width=\"443\" height=\"443\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> Carwyn Jones and Andy Palmer present the new crossover vehicle.<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nWhile\u00a0the Welsh Government is not revealing the exact figures involved in the deal, the <em>Cardiffian<\/em>\u00a0has learnt that around \u00a310m will be spent on building a new access road in St Athan.<br \/>\nThis will boost the area as an enterprise zone and it is expected that a further 4,000 jobs will be supported by the development.<br \/>\nThe Aston Martin plant will be the first new car manufacturing facility in Wales for over 50 years.<br \/>\nThe new car, which will be a 4&#215;4 style crossover vehicle, was unveiled at last year&#8217;s Geneva Motor Show and is expected to cost around \u00a3160,000.<br \/>\nThis morning First Minister Carwyn Jones and Aston Martin chief executive Andy Palmer held a press conference in Cathays Park alongside the famous Aston Martin DB5.<br \/>\nThe car was used by James Bond in several films including its first appearance in Goldfinger in 1964 before returning in Thunderball and making key appearances in the most recent films, Skyfall and Spectre.<br \/>\nSecretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb said: \u201cToday\u2019s announcement is an enormous boost for St Athan, for Wales and for the British car industry.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is a genuine example of a \u2018one nation\u2019 achievement, with both the UK and Welsh Governments working together to attract this prestige manufacturer to Welsh shores.<br \/>\n\u201cThis decision has reinforced Wales\u2019 position as an innovator and leader in the automotive sector.<br \/>\n\u201cIt also shows the strength and competitiveness of our manufacturing sector and the high-end skills base that is driving our economy forward.\u201d<br \/>\nIn addition, Aston Martin also announced that it was planning to bring more work and create more jobs at the company&#8217;s factory headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9301\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9301\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Aston-Martin-DB5.jpeg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-9301\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9301\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Aston-Martin-DB5-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"Bond Car: Aston Martin DB5.\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9301\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9301\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Aston-Martin-DB5-300x300.jpeg\" alt=\"Bond Car: Aston Martin DB5.\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> Bond Car: Aston Martin DB5.<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nPrime Minister, David Cameron said: \u201cAston Martin is an iconic British brand and the decision to invest here shows real confidence in our economy.<br \/>\n\u201cWith our economic strengths and easy access to European markets, the UK automotive sector is thriving.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is one of the biggest in Europe \u2013 and the most productive \u2013 and Aston\u2019s creation of up to 1,000 new jobs in Wales and the West Midlands is welcome news.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A \u00a310m access road will be created to support the new Aston Martin car plant that is due to be built in South Wales.
