{"id":9902,"date":"2016-03-08T22:15:11","date_gmt":"2016-03-08T22:15:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/?p=9902"},"modified":"2016-03-08T22:15:11","modified_gmt":"2016-03-08T22:15:11","slug":"wales-skipper-demands-back-row-improvement-ahead-of-england-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardiffjournalism.co.uk\/thecardiffian\/2016\/03\/08\/wales-skipper-demands-back-row-improvement-ahead-of-england-test\/","title":{"rendered":"Wales skipper demands back-row improvement ahead of England test"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WALES captain Sam Warburton has warned his players that they will have to raise the bar if they are to derail England\u2019s Grand Slam charge.<br \/>\nWarburton stressed that the Welsh forwards will have to be more efficient at the breakdown, despite having conceded fewer turnovers than any other side in the championship.<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019ve left our ball carriers a little bit isolated too many times and we\u2019ve given teams some easy turnovers,\u201d said the Wales skipper.<br \/>\n\u201cSo I think for us there\u2019s going to be a big emphasis on making sure we get in support a lot quicker to our ball carriers and hopefully nullify that threat.\u201d<br \/>\nMany experts have predicted that the visitors will hold an advantage at the breakdown given that the English don\u2019t employ a traditional seven in their back-row.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9903\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9903\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Sam-W.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-9903\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9903\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Sam-W-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Warburton gets set for explosive back-row battle\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9903\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9903\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Sam-W-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Warburton gets set for explosive back-row battle\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> Warburton gets set for an explosive battle<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nHowever, Warburton was quick to point out the collective efficiency of England\u2019s work at the breakdown.<br \/>\nThe 27-year-old said: \u201cWatching guys like James Haskell who is very strong, wrapping up guys the same as Billy and a lot of their front five forwards.<br \/>\n\u201cSo they have got threats over the ball like Chris Robshaw and Dan Cole, so I do think that they cover the bases there.\u201d<br \/>\nBetween 1978 and 2008 Wales went 20 years without a victory at Twickenham, with strong Welsh sides having been sent back over the bridge with their tails between their legs.<br \/>\nHowever, times change with all but one of the starting Welsh fifteen on Saturday having tasted victory at the home of English rugby.<br \/>\n\u201cI really enjoy playing at Twickenham,\u201d said Warburton.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019ve always said it\u2019s probably my favourite away ground to play in.<br \/>\n\u201cI think the atmosphere is always great and you can always sense the hype the week of the match including a busier press conference like today.\u201d<br \/>\nWarburton has already won twice at Twickenham in his career with both victories having been decided by seven and three points respectively.<br \/>\nAnd the Welsh skipper fully expects the latest instalment of this historic rivalry to be just as close.<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s probably going to be another game where there\u2019s only a score in it that\u2019s it,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cIt could be a moment of brilliance from someone of either team which is going to separate the two sides.
