They will publish a statutory public notice, which will give the public 28 days to respond to the plans between April 11 \u00a0and May 9.<br \/>\nThe merger could save the council \u00a386,000 per year, with the majority of this saving coming through changes to staffing. The new staffing structure will be subject to consultation with the two schools and relevant trade unions.<br \/>\nOut of the 15 primary schools in Barry, Cadoxton Primary is the only school not to have an integrated nursery provision.<br \/>\nThe Report of the Cabinet Member for Children\u2019s Services and Schools, published on 7 March 2016, says: \u201cIncorporating the nursery school at Cadoxton into the primary school offers a more efficient and sustainable model of delivery.<br \/>\n\u201cThe amalgamation of the two schools on their current sites would provide savings predominantly through the streamlining of the leadership, governance and management of the schools by way of a single headteacher, leadership team and governing body.\u201d<br \/>\nA proper six-week consultation period was completed between January 4 and February 15, 2016, where parents, governors and staff were invited to express their views on the merger.<br \/>\nThe key concerns raised included the loss of the nursery\u2019s \u201ccommunity centred ethos\u201d and worry about the wellbeing of the nursery children \u201cas a result of having shared leadership and potential changes in staff responsibilities\u201d.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10235\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10235\" style=\"width: 736px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/cad-prim.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10235\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-10235 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/cad-prim.jpg\" alt=\"Cadoxton Nursery School\" width=\"736\" height=\"588\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10235\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10235 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/cardiffian.jomec.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/cad-prim.jpg\" alt=\"Cadoxton Nursery School\" width=\"736\" height=\"588\" \/><\/noscript><\/a> <strong>Families at the Cadoxton Nursery School have been campaigning to keep the nursery separate.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nMany of the nursery school parents have praised staff for helping the school achieve excellent results.
