Huge Warehouse of Vintage Clothes Opens in Cardiff

The Thrift was officially opened in February this year.

The store was founded by Gareth Natale. Before that, he founded the online antique store Deadstock in 2015.

Abhinandan Katharwani joined this company in June last year as an intern and increased the online visibility of the store.

Abhinandan says the market in Wales was less than saturated.

“Cardiff is a student city, and there are many students looking for similar brands here, but they need cheaper prices. That’s why we open retail experience stores,” he said.

The Thrift has a lot of vintage clothing from well-known brands. The price of jeans starts at less than three pounds.

“Although the prices here are very low, we do not sell fake products, they are genuine, and we do not want to deceive our customers,” Abhinandan said.

Micaela Castanheira and Cai Dadds are a couple from Portugal trying on a vintage coat in the store.

“In Portugal, I don’t see anything like this. Maybe there is, but people don’t tend to buy that much second-hand. But now many young people like to participate in this matter,” Micaela said.

The Thrift was created to change the perceptions of more people. Most people tend to buy new clothes, but The Thrift hopes to change this situation through sustainable development. Second hand reduces carbon footprint and costs.

In the future, they plan to open similar stores in various cities, such as Swansea and Bristol.
