Why Pay the Earth When You Can Help Save the Earth?

The only Re-create Shop in Wales needs more volunteers to support them. They’re calling for people to transform their ways of living to a sustainable style.

The recreate store by Ely bridge has been open for more than 30 years. They collect resources from the community, local businesses and from across the UK to reuse waste.

They provide a wide variety of reusable waste and surplus materials to the community. Customers think the store helps them to realise the value of reusing waste.

Lily Harris, one of the customers says “It’s nice to see recycle materials here and I don’t need to buy new. We also come here to get reuse fabrics and recycling thing is good for environment.”

After Covid, lots of companies are closing, lots of stuff are thrown out. The re-create shop collected the stuff. They aim to treasure the resources and protect the earth. One aspect of the resource store includes providing loose parts workshops with children and young people of all abilities.

Kevin Ford, the manager of the Resource Centre also has three years experience being involved in running a variety of music workshops with children and young people at the riverside warehouse.

“It’s basically a children’s charity, we encourage children to play, to do craft. We do lots of outside activities to encourage healthy living style,” he said.

Until now, the store didn’t have an expansion plan because of its uncertain future. But they want to have more volunteers to support them which can also give children good memories and hope.
