Residents in Llandaff are backing road safety measures near a local school.
Cardiff council is currently consulting on extending the 20mph speed zone on Fairwater Road.
There are already restrictions outside Cantonian High School but the speed limit returns to 30mph just before the junction onto Fairwater Grove West.
The route is used by school children, cyclists and pedestrians and residents are concerned about speeding cars.
One resident tweeted “My concern is the parking directly on the junction causes a dangerous blind spot for pedestrians and local school children”.
The road is a popular commuting route into the city centre and also pedestrians travelling to Fairwater railway station.
But now it is proposed to extend the 20mph limit by another 262 metres.
Concerns about the bend in the road have already provoked one person to spray paint the word ‘slow’ in red on the wall outside the Snowsports Cymru centre.
Llandaff Conservative councillor, Sean Driscoll, tweeted “following residents concerns, we have requested Highways look to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists in this area. It will also improve safety for school children around the junction of Fairwater Grove West and Fairwater Road”.
Residents have been set a deadline for comments by Friday 15th of February.
