Over three days, the city will become full of music fans, giving pubs and restaurants in the city a much needed boost following the Christmas lockdown.

Wages are set to ‘drop even further’, warns economist

The cost of living crisis is affecting people in many different ways – including their take-home pay.

Wages have actually risen. However, when adjusted for inflation – which is rising faster than wages – wages have dropped by 0.8% in real terms, new data released by the Office of National Statistics reveals.

Senior Economist at the Resolution foundation, Hannah Slaughter, has told CJS that the cost of living crisis will cause wages to drop even further.

Wales unemployment rate lower than rest of UK

Wales has the lowest unemployment rate in the UK, according to newly released Office of National Statistics data.

Unemployment fell to 3.1% in Wales between October and December 2021, compared to the 4.1% UK average.

This is the lowest unemployment figure in Wales since April to June 2020 and the largest annual decrease since July to September 2016

In Wales, 47,000 people remain unemployed between October and December, down 11,000 from July to September

Cardiff to host 6 Music Festival

BBC 6 Music DJ and proud Cardiffian Huw Stephens announced the news on his morning radio show

Cardiff is to host the BBC 6 Music festival in April, with award winning acts performing across the city.

Little Simz, fresh off her Brit Award success, was one of the first acts announced to perform, taking over St David’s Hall on Friday the 1st of April
