Butetown: Police investigating suspected assault after man airlifted to hospital with serious injuries

A man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following an incident near Cardiff city centre.

Footage from the scene captured by CJS news shows an air ambulance landing in Callaghan Square at around 10am as well as emergency services at the entrance of The Huggard homeless centre on Hansen Street.

South Wales Police later confirmed on social media an investigation is underway into the incident which is suspected to be an assault.

One eyewitness told CJS News they saw someone “unresponsive” and people were been sent out of the building.

A police cordon has been set up and the road is likely to be closed for “some time. “

They are now appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact 101.
