When dining out, supporting local food producers is more important than ever.
Fortunately, there is a growing crop of Cardiff restaurants that care deeply about the journey the food they serve makes, from the field to the fork.
One such venue is Mimosa Kitchen and Bar, in Cardiff Bay (02920 491900). ‘Local farmers are obviously important to us, as we want to support the local Welsh community’ says Mimosa’s Andrew Hepworth. ‘It also keeps everyone’s costs down if food isn’t travelling the length and breadth of the country’.
Mimosa uses only Fair Trade ingredients, which are responsibly sourced. ‘The collective long term effects of eating, for instance, fish responsibly will enrich everyone’s lives if it means that we don’t lose entire species to overfishing’, says Andrew.
