Dance shows dominate TV but do you want to dance?
BBC show Strictly Come Dancing may be winning the ratings war against the mighty X-Factor, but has its increasing popularity encouraged its Cardiff fans to swap their sofa for the salsa?
Popular Cardiff dance school, Rubicon, is convinced that shows like Strictly are making their mark. General Manager, Adam Lloyd said, “There’s definitely been an increase of interest in dance. Because of Strictly, we do get a lot of enquiries about salsa and ball room, and latin”.
Edwards Dance Studio in Whitchurch has found a similar pattern, reporting more enquiries when the first series aired, although the effect has decreased in recent years.
With media interest piqued and with viewing figures high, the influence of dance shows looks set to rise for quite some time.
