Activities and taster sessions at Cardiff Central Library
Cardiff Central Library hopes to battle library stereotypes by hosting a day of sports activities, dance classes and careers workshops to unite the local community.
The event, Get Active, takes place Wednesday 2 November as part of Libraries Fortnight. It aims to encourage healthier lifestyles, attract new members and alter perceptions of what libraries have to offer.
For example, there will be a workshop in a computer suite for job hunters with advice on writing a CV and handling job interviews.
“There will also be experts coming to provide taster sessions in activities ranging from street dance to karate,” said Nicola Richards, manager of Cardiff Central Library.
“It’s about getting people into the library, but hopefully they’ll get fit while they’re here as well.”
