Be ethical this Christmas and make your own gifts
Calon Yarns Craft Studio in Canton is offering a series of workshops in the run up to the festive season, including lessons on how to make felt tree decorations, beaded bracelets, Christmas stockings and embroidered cushions.
In a time when people are becoming more aware of the origin of their purchases, and the environmental impact of mass production in factories, making your own decorations and gifts could be the perfect solution.
Lynne Seymour, the co-owner of Calon Yarns, has noticed an increase in the popularity of craft workshops as social events and believes that, “Although making gifts is not necessarily cheaper than buying your own, you are able to have more control over where the materials come from and can ensure they have been ethically sourced.”
