The Cathays Neighbourhood Policing Team and Cardiff City Council’s Road Safety Department have launched an initiative to promote greater safety awareness for cyclists, after recent complaints by local residents.
Residents have raised concerns about the number of cyclists riding dangerously and inconsiderately on pavements.
A PACT (Partnership and Communities Together) meeting held on 7 November advised cyclists about the dangers of riding on pavements and reminded them about keeping bikes in good mechanical order, keeping reflectors and lights clean and wearing a good quality helmet and fluorescent clothing in the dark.
PCSO David Lloyd said, “We are trying to promote security and safety for all in the community, so we were really pleased to see how many cyclists turned up to the last PACT meeting.”
