The prize money to the winner of the Yonex Welsh international badminton championships has increased to £15 000 to attract better players.
Held in Sports Wales National Centre, the championships will be over four days from 29 November to 2 December. Thursday will see the qualifying, Friday is the start of the main draw, Saturday sees the quarter and semi-finals and Sunday are the finals.
James Phillips, events officer at Badminton Wales, said, “Some of the best badminton players in the world are taking part. In the ladies’ singles the No.1 seed is currently No. 18 in the world. In the men’s singles the No.1 seed is currently No.33. There are going to be a lot of really good games at a high level.”
