A petition has been handed over to the National Assembly’s petitions committee by Keira Marlow, campaigning for a specialist eating disorder unit in Wales.
Keira, 22, from Brecon, first fell ill with anorexia when she was 17. Her anorexia recently relapsed, forcing her to seek help at the nearest specialist unit, which was 110 miles away in Marlborough.
She hopes her petition, which has been signed by 526 people, will see the establishment of a specialist unit in Wales.
Keira said, “If a hospital was built in Wales it would mean that patients would be near to their home so their parents and friends could visit every day. It could also mean that sufferers get treated faster as they would have the option of being treated as a day patient, and this could promote a faster recovery.”
