Pret a Manger gives away leftover food to the homeless, instead of contributing the growing amount of food waste building up in Cardiff.
While many restaurants fill their bins at the end of the day, Pret employees hand out their remaining pre-packaged sandwiches to the local homeless.
Food waste in Cardiff, as well as the rest of the country, is a growing concern, with businesses throwing tonnes away after stocking their shelves with too much to sell.
Though many resort to selling their waste for energy, or filling up landfills, Pret have taken a more philanthropic approach.
When asked about the motivations behind their generosity Pret tweeted, “our first shop had rough sleepers in our doorway. We could throw good food away, or give it [to] those that needed it most.”
