For the first time last week, Spanish restaurant Bar 44 took their shiny new van onto the streets. The van, which they named El Boquerón after the silver anchovy, was selling authentic Spanish tapas in Cardiff city centre until last Sunday.
Bar 44 brought their van to the city centre, because they thought it lacked any high quality tapas, despite the recent boom in Spanish cuisine. They also wanted to stimulate Wales’s street food scene, which they believe is lagging behind other UK cities.
“The reception was amazing,” co-owner, Tom Morgan said. “Most importantly everyone loved the food and the concept. The only downside was the weather.”
Bar 44’s mobile tapas will be back in The Hays in the middle of December.
