An anti-racism charity is using laughter to raise awareness of racism in society by holding a stand-up comedy event this week.
Show Racism the Red Card is a UK wide educational charity, which uses high profile names, predominantly in football, to help tackle racism and promote an anti-racist message to young people.
Jessica Gasson, the charity’s support worker, believes this event is important because it gives them the opportunity to gather people from all sectors of society to raise awareness.
She said comedy is a good tool because it “is something that transcends societal boundaries and allows us to spread our message to a diverse audience.”
The event, called Stand Up Against Racism, is taking place on November 30 at the Marriott Hotel.
